About

Cody Marcel is a software development consultant, engineering leader, and US Army veteran with over two decades of experience turning complex business problems into automated software solutions. Since 2005, he has been delivering technology consulting engagements across financial services, pharmaceuticals, enterprise SaaS, and education.

At Salesforce, Cody spent 13 years as a Principal Software Engineer and Technical Lead, scaling distributed data platforms from thousands to billions of records and earning 9 US patents for innovations in query processing, data archival, and multi-tenant database optimization. He led teams of up to 8 engineers, spoke at Dreamforce, contributed to Apache HBase, and was an Apache Phoenix committer.

Before Salesforce, Cody worked at companies delivering enterprise solutions for Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Bear Stearns, Oppenheimer Funds, SunTrust Bank, and Pfizer—building financial systems, including derivatives trading platforms, performance testing mainframes, and pharma Informatica ETL.

Today, Cody is the founder of Infinite State Machines LLC, the company behind the BOS (Business Operating System) platform—an API-first operating system for business applications built on finite state machines, server-driven UI, and row-level security. He also founded and operates iCode Cherry Creek, a STEM education franchise in Denver with 17 team members and 60+ active students, where he applies the same automation principles to education operations.
